Set Snipe in $'s,Snipe understood GBP ?? | Auction Sniper

An auction had an item with a price of $460 or so $'s The auction was in the UK. The value was posted in GBP and it's $ equivalent. My snipe was posted with the dollar sign in front of 518 (meaning 518 Dolars is all I wanted to spend. Auction Sniper understood my Snipe as 518 GBH.
How did that happen. I own the auction, but paid much more than I wanted to
Did Auction Sniper make a mistake? I DID put a $ dollar sign in front of my Snipe amount. ..... ??

Ok,
Search research gave me my answer. The error was mine. AS snipes in the currency of the auction.

Not just AS, but ANY bids made on ebay are in the currency of the auction.
