Its the same error message I get.
I'm begging that they are still sniping in the background, though.

I think downtimes heavy like this and lasting > 30 minutes are unacceptable for a paid service. I'm fine to leave some $ at AS, but expect a professional service.

I don't know what force made them change to the crappy asp/.net architecture, but since then their system seems stable as a Windows 95A box. What happened to all the good code they used to run?
For me they usually did the snipe while the website was down. There are others that had bad luck.

The more annoying thing is that you can't control your snipes -- the only thing is to change your password on ebay, thus a snipe can NOT be placed.

This really sucks. As paying user I would expect:

- A more userfriendly error message (Links to Forum, Support, Helpdesk, Contatc Details)

- Redundancy of the System for failover

- payback or free snipes on failures

- A QoS team that monitors 24/7 and escalates professionaly

Where do we pay for?
This is unacceptable for a service like this.
I already lost a couple items because of this down time.

Maintenance should be scheduled and the users warned of when it is to take place.

A second server should be in place within minutes of the first one going down.

What is this a mom and pop dot com shop?
No one can match our reliability

Our server network is designed for maximum reliability, with cutting edge technology including redundant Internet backbone connections at the PacBell NAP, back up power supplies, and security access for 24x7 availability.

Don't think we're measuring up to this.....
I have two questions for AuctionSniper to answer: 1. Notwithstanding your legal disclaimers that protect you when YOU cause the outage, tell me if you fully understand the hardship you cause to your customers when there is an outage? I was unable to access My Snipes page this morning and, as a result, it cost me money. We depend on you and it took far too long for you to fix the technical problem.
2. Why don't you have adequate back-up servers, drives and resources to prevent these outages? If you want a reputation for reliability (I don't see a lot of happy AS customers) I suggest that you concentrate on improving your reliability. I would appreciate AS replying to my questions stated above. Thank you. Dale
We already have plans in place to help this not happen again. We have the server capacity already. I am certain that we have the best servers, and most robost network among any service. We are greatly invested into making your sniping as successful as possible and we appologize for the inconvience today. It was unfortunate to happen just before the new servers were brought into action, but that's murphys law for ya.

More than anything we feel your pain becuase if we aren't working you cant add snipes, and if you cant add snipes you cant win snipes, and without that we dont make money. i.e. we lose money if we're not there for you and we like money Smile money is good Smile

I agree though that a posting on the forum would have saved some frustration

Thursday/Friday is Michaels day off and he's the one that usually gets here the earliest. We're west coast so usually people dont roll in until about 10am. Micheal is more of a 8:30-9ish type. So we didnt notice it until about 10:30 and fixed it just a little after that.

This was really just a problem of a hard drive filling up and not any sort of major problem in the foundation of the site or it's overall reliablity going forward. Not to minimualize the problem in any way, just so you know it's something that was a dumb human error, and not anything major that would cause concern going forward.

You mean you aren't perfect, Sara?

Unfortunately I am not. When my creators cloned me they didnt realize that my DNA replication would also take on the traits of my original older cloned self.

So I already have the memory loss of that someone many times my age, and it's accelerating rapidly.

I was bred from the beginning to be a cheap and effective support board represenative, long before anyone had even heard of the Raelians or cloneaid!

I am the first living clone support person in the whole world! Living proof that cloning works? :P

I'm suprised that the problem was allowed to persist for so long on what is reputed to be a 24 hour service.

I would expect some sort of monitoring system to page someone when there are problems, not rely on people noticing it when they get in from breakfast at Dunkin Donuts.

I design websites - on mission critical sites I know within minutes that is a problem so I'm sure it must be possible for AS to do the same...

Nobody here has kids. I guess that's why we can sleep in. Well one guy does have high school agers. So that's not the kind that wake you up early in the morning Smile But he's also the one that normally comes in the earliest.

So the correlation I'm seeing is that people with kids or who have had kids get up way too early! Smile I've always been a late night owl type. It's 4am and I'm just going to bed. Obviously kids will some day turn me into a morning person whether I want to or not, until then I'll enjoy my very quiet and peaceful late nights!

It feels strange when I get up and go outside early and the sun is still on it's way up in the sky and not already on it's way down. That's had bad I am Smile

No, the reason that I lost the item was not because I was outbid. Nobody else even placed a bid on the item.

I don't know what happened, but the snipe did not go through. I suppose it was only a coincidence that it was scheduled during the time that the server was down.

This was not a huge item that I absolutely had to have, but I have other items where it is escential that my bids are placed.
I've been unable to place a snipe since 2/22 early afternoon ... still getting the "Server Error in '/' Application" screen.

If the problem has been fixed, is there something else I need to do to "reset" myself? I've already loggod off and logged back in, and cleared my cookies....
Well actually, I felt bad repoting that my snipe didn't go through and I was mad at first because I just started the service and thought that this was going to be happening all the time. But I think it was just a rare happening. It wasn't a big item anyway.

Actually I think this is the best sniping service, after having looked at several others.

So cheers to AuctionSniper.com. What I like best is that you don't have to pay for the snipes that you loose.

Auctionsniper has made me a winner on ebay once again. No more waiting around for auctions to get the last second bid. I was loosing all over the place, and was about to give up on auctions all together before I found auctionsniper. They should expand to include other auction sites like yahoo.

Smile

So yea, it is easy to report the negative, but the positive should also be reported.
