I LOVE auction sniper. I turned my niece onto it and she's used it a couple of times. However, she used it yesterday (or tried) and the seller "blocked" the snipe. I didn't even know that was possible!! I'm a Power Seller & didn't even know I had that option to block a last minute snipe.

Has this happened before to anybody?

She emailed the seller who is fairly new (july 2005) and she mentioned something about shipping to other countries, etc. She also apologized, because my niece lost out on the bid and would have easily gone an extra $20 for the auction item.

Anybody???

The seller DID block the auction snipe. An email was sent to the bidder saying it would not be accepted - - that's my question - - how can an EBay seller 'BLOCK' a bid by auction snipe.

Again, the seller apologized, stating she was knew, but irregardless, the snipe WAS BLOCKED!

That's why I am so confused as to HOW.

Thanks for your input though. Unfortunately, it doesn't answer my question - - and we did go to "my snipes" and it's not even recorded because it did not go through at all.

On “My Snipes” page, there’s the following:
Choose Snipes: Active | Ended | Won | Lost | Custom | Today | All

When you click on “Lost”, the auction isn’t listed? If you find the auction, then the “Confirmation” button will give you the text of the message AS received from ebay when the snipe couldn’t be placed. If you can’t find the auction, then that’s puzzling.
An AS snipe is carried out by AS logging in as you (ie. with your Ebay ID and password) and placing a bid as if it was you. Despite your repeated rather aggressive assertions that the snipe was blocked you have offered no information to show that:
a. the seller was able to spot the snipe was from AS (how could they?);
b. why the seller would block a bid from you;
c. how you know it was blocked?

As mentioned above, a seller can block bids for a number of reasons - I would suggest that one of these reasons applies to you (and not AS).

Perhaps you could tell us what exactly happened, what the item ID was, what messages you received etc and then maybe someone can help you.

Well, that makes a little bit more sense now. Even though, the bid was blocked, I guess it was just blocked by the seller for one of the EBay reasons, shipping "out of country" was one of the reasons. She is fairly new, apologized, etc.

I was thinking that it was AS she blocked, but it makes more sense that it was not AS as such, but just the bid coming from the legitimate bidder on EBay.

Boy, I bet she lost a lot of bids that way! My niece did email her, as I mentioned earlier, and apologized. Hopefully, she changed her seller settings.

Thanks for your help. It's just that I love AS and showed my niece how to use it and when it was blocked, I was thinking it was AS and not EBay.

I should have thought a little bit more logically about it.

Thanks, everybody!
