My great Uncle was a chap called Alan Winnington - he decided to become a communist and went to live in East Germany where he wrote a few books...

I'm using the AS Search to look for Winnington. Under Advanced search I put winnington in the 'search all of these words' box, set 'Search in Categories' to All Categories, 'Currency' to Any Currency, I set the radio button to Available to Country and the 'Country' to Any Country and 'eBay Regions - Item location' to All of eBay.

However, it doesn't find item Alan Winnington: Breakfast with Mao (1986) #2908254397 which the seller is offering Worldwide.

Any ideas what I have done wrong?

Apart from having a communist great Uncle, of course! [His brother was Richard Winnington - a famous film critic who didn't live in East Germany or support the communists!]

The title has the word winnington:

with the colon. Your search doesnt. Thus the words are not the same and not a mach.

I suppose you could use: winnington* in your search query which whould match any title that had the word winnington with any letters after that, including a colon.

The Ebay search works in that it finds the book even without the * on the end of winnington.

Next, I added the '*' to the AS search and that didn't come up either.

What else could the problem be?

Our search searches eBay US. If you do your search on eBay US in any form it wont work.

I'll see if we can get something that will let you select the eBay country as well.

I'm confused - how can you say that AS search only searches USA when you offer the option to Search 'Any Country' in Advanced Search??? It defies logic!

Ah, yes, that's in the advanced options. Didnt see that there. It looks like it's broke. I just ran it and it didnt find it either, but when I did the same thing on eBay it worked.

Basically, that is a parameter in the search, it doesn't mean that we are going to go to all the international eBay sites, but is under consideration.
