This is for the AS responsibles: I had this situation before and never was billed for such a snipe. I hope this has been a mistake. If not, i.e. if AS continues billing snipes of items I would have won anyway, I will find another sniper. AS is not the only one.

I think Puzzle is saying that him/her placed a proxy bid that won the auction, but that AS placed a snipe and caused him/her to lose a free snipe? Him/her may be thinking this is something new? Him/her may be thinking that AS' has become a greedy service?

...then I'm inclined to believe you. Maybe there was some other circumstance going on?

I didn't get charged for a snipe I tried to use last week, because the bid had already gone above it by the time the snipe would have been placed. I logged in two minutes before the end of the auction, just in time to snipe manually (which, of course, means my snipe was only in the ball-park of my true max bid...)

Maybe some of the veterans have other examples.

Thanks, by the way, for being gutsy enough to come back and tell us about the other snipe "services" you found... I hope you decide to stick around.

Was very big of you to come back and I am glad to see you back Smile

I have never really thought about the extra charges I am incurring when I am sniping as well as proxy bidding, but your post made me go back through my account and have a look and it seems I have a rather expensive trend happening.

It seems that I tend to proxy bid on expensive items and then snipe as well, on less expensive items I am happier just to snipe as it doenst matter to me whether I get them or not really. At a cost of $1+ a snipe, I think I will rethink my strategy but I dont think I willstop proxy bidding on some items.

As I am paying is AU$ it makes it a tad more expensive as well.

This sounds familiar. Seems like someone else experienced this. Can't remember the circumstances, and I hate to admit it, I CAN'T find the post. To the best of my knowledge, it's always been AS' policy that even if you are the high bidder - if you tell AS to place a snipe - you'll be billed.
