Hi, I'm new to AS and I just had a question for people who have been using it for a while. I'll have to set up the situation for you to ask the question, though.

There is an item I want which will end NEXT sunday at just about noon eastern. From what I know about Ebay, their servers are a little slow on sundays, especially on the hour.

as of now, there are no bids on the item. is it reasonable to set one snipe up at 2-3 seconds with my absolute maximum bid price, then another "safety snipe" up at 20 seconds with a slightly lower max bid (say $20.00 less).

I would be doing this just in case (A) the servers at ebay are slow and my absolute maximum bid doesn't go off in time AND (B) the servers happen to be fast that day, and someone manually outsnipes my 20 second bid.

does this sound reasonable, or should I just put one snipe with my absolute maximum at 20 seconds? I have no qualms about using two snipes through AS.

Split the difference - set snipe to 8 seconds (or 10 or whatever). In fact 20 seconds could be fine - it's unlikely that a manual sniper can react that quickly.

Also, you'd need two IDs to set up your two snipes - effectively you'd be bidding against yourself.

Trust AS and, if all else fails and you don't win, watch and the item will appear again. And again!
