So the reserve price is 100.00 and the current bid is 25.00. I like the item and am prepared to bid 150.00 so that's what I set my Snipe too.

Now if no-one else bids and the highest bid at the end of the sale is below the Reserve price (which I don't know of course) does my Snipe win?

How can it? Surely it will bid the next increment above 25.00, say 26.00, but as the reserve is 100.00 I won't win will I?

HELP!! I NEED TO KNOW THIS BY TUESDAY :-)

I am not a doctor, nor do I play one on TV, but...

It works just like any manual bid on eBay. (Remember, a snipe is just a proxy bid placed at the last minute.)

If the maximum bid you place is equal to or greater than the reserve price, your bid will automatically be raised to meet the reserve price. This enables you to win. If your bid doesn't meet or exceed the reserve price, you don't win the auction.

I'm not sure why sellers use reserve prices anyway, as opposed to just starting their auctions at the minimum they're willing to sell the item for... but I'm told that it encourages some people to bid early, hoping they'll be able to guess the reserve price.

I hope I answered that right... I'm still just a Junior Sniper... Smile
