I am sure that this topic is listed somewhere...When placing a bid on an item with a reserve bid and the bid just before yours does not push the price to the reserve, how does one make sure that the maximum bid placed with AS is placed? I have lost a couple of items, even though my max. bid would have pushed the price over the the reserve set. I have started to skip items with reserves because of this. I love AS! Confused

AS only knows to bid the amount you program in. It does not bid in increments. If you tell it to enter a bid of $100 with 5 seconds left in an auction, that's what it does, even if it would only take $25 to win the auction. So you can be sure that your entire bid is *always* entered by AS, except in those cases where the existing high bid is already higher than the one your programmed.

I'm not sure why you didn't win the reserve auction if your bid was higher than the bid that did win. Are you sure the reserve was met? If so, it's possible that your bid and the winner's bid were for identical amounts and the other guy's bid was entered before yours. In such cases eBay awards the auction to the first bidder of that amount. I've had it happen to me like that once or twice.
