Hello.
I've recommended auctionsniper to just about everyone I know who uses Ebay as I believe it's a genuinely fantastic service.
I know at least three people who have decided to give auctionsniper a spin and they in turn have thought they were doing me a favour by supplying my email address as the person who referred them so I may be credited with free snipes. Trouble is that they used an email of mine that is different to the one registered with Auction sniper and so I'm not getting the free credits.

I'm not really bothered as I wasn't recommending A.S with the aim of snagging free snipes, but I do feel that email adresses suppied to A.S from new users should be investigated if they don't correspond to the A.S database. All it would take is a message to the unknown email address saying somthing like "you have been nominated for free credits - please confirm your email address registered with Auction Sniper"

It's just a suggestion !

I've done just that but still missed out on referrals. I've even stood over a friend as they registered to ensure my details were entered at exactly the right point in the right format but still got no free snipes. Support sorted me out though...

It would be nice if AS let the recipient of free snipes know who had just registered (their eBay ID would be fine)? Is this possible Sara?

If I'm at work and the conversation is about Ebay, then I naturally give AuctionSniper a big shout because I want my mates to enjoy the same benefit/ advantage that I do. Good products sell themselves quite easily in this way and A.S. is no different. Free snipes don't even enter my thoughts when I have recommend new subscribers - there's no "refer a friend" button at work Smile

That's fair enough, BUT when people approach me and say "cheers for the tip off - I've put you forward for free snipes," but used my incorrect email, then the spirit of their good intentions has not been honoured.I'm sure the system could be improved in some way to account for these instances which I assume are not isolated. Either that or perhaps post a disclaimer on the subscription page saying that a referrers email that does not match your records will not be investigated and free snipes will not be issued.

I'm more than happy to keep recommending A.S. - free snipes or no free snipes.

file a support case. we can look up what the other person entered for their referal and make sure the credit is issued, we do it all the time.

If an error was made, I think you can still get your freebees by providing their eBay ID or email address in a support case.
Exactly. There is no way for us to give credit automatically when the wrong info is entered, you'll need to file a support case. If they enter it correctly it works every time, 100% of the time. We give away a lot of free snipes each day so I'm very certain it works.
Thanks for the suggestions. I did try this approach the first time I had a refferal put forward but nothing came of it- probably the email address I supplied of the person who recommended me for freebies didn't tie up with the address supplied by them to A.S !

I appreciate that A.S. will sort things out if presented with all of the correct detailed information, but its not worth the agro to be quite honest for the piddly sums of money involved (and that's meant as a compliment to A.S. low charges!)

I'll leave it to lady luck if people supply my correct email adress or not.

Cheers

Al
1.) no idea what %. I supsect 100% of the ones where people use the link corrctly work. We will check for those that file a support case where they believe they didnt get them because their friends entered the wrong info. Judging by the number of people that write in, vs the # of free snipes we give out daily it's in the low single digit %'s.

2.) We dont display who signed up through you for privacy reasons. Many people have their links out on their web pages, or eBay end of auction emails to their buyers, and all over. So it's not just their friends signing up but random people. We do maintain a table in our database with a list of all referals so we can always check if we need. It's all automated. If a person enters your userId or email address you get automatically credited.
