quick questions from a newbie

i was reading up on proxy bidding on ebay, and i was wondering if this is exactly what as does. first, does as place a series of bids to keep me as the highest bidder? or does it place my bid in the last few seconds? i know that it wont make a bid higher than my set maximum if there is no reserve on the item, but im a little paranoid about bumping the price of the item un-neededly.

Yes.

The box titled “Max bid” is a bit misleading, as it sounds like AS will place multiple snipes, but that title is meant (I believe) to match the title of the bidding box on ebay. An AS’ snipe works the same as a single proxy bid placed thru ebay, only it's during the last few seconds of the auction.

Your question is a fairly faq that's not (I think) in the FAQs. The box might be better titled as “Snipe Amount”.
