hi everyone,
i have in the past bought items on ebay in the regular way i.e. BIN and manual bidding , in the past six months i haven't won a single auction, maybe 3 or 4 items. i knew i was being sniped but i didn't think that every single item auctioned on ebay would be sniped
so here i am

1. will AS bid for me on an item i am only watching i.e. i am not listed in the bidder table in the auction. sorta like stealth mode

2. if i set my maximum bid at $50 on an item currently at say $15.00 which as close of auction had gone to say $25 will AS place a bid of $50.00 straight away or will it try to bid an increment higher that the current high bid. will i get the item for $26.50 if i win or will i pay $50

Hi and WELCOME.

1. AS will place a bid on anything you tell it to bid on. In fact most of us prefer NOT to be on the current bidder list. I only place one bid on auctions... in the last few seconds.

2. Bidding via AS is just the same as bidding at eBay except for the timing. AS places your MAX bid and it is accepted by eBay as a proxy bid.

ok, so i read the forums and answered my own question about AS bid amount.

as of > 5 sec of auction current high bid is $25 , then AS places my bid for $50 then ebay itself calculates increment of $1.50 and unless someone else can bid i win the auction for $26.50

so if possible i should wait until as close to possible to close of auction to tell AS to place a snipe bid.

i'm thick but when will will AS place a bid on an item i'm just watching ?

AS is a service that you can use to bid on an eBay item. AS has no idea what you have in your watch list on eBay. You tell AS what item number you want to bid on and it will. No bids will be placed unless you go to your MY SNIPES page and enter a snipe.

When you enter your snipe AS will ask how many seconds before end of auction you want. Most pick 5-8 seconds.
