Hi!
I'm an italian AS newbie, and I'm going to place my first snipe.
I find out AS just today, as I wish to bid for an item I was looking from a while (it ends in 1 hours, thus a QUICK response will be very kind and much appreciated!)

I'd like someone to explain me the bid history belove:
1. Why some higher bid appears to be placed BEFORE (date or hours) some lower ones?
e.g.: How s***a - EUR 127,00 placed on 10-Feb-09 can be higher than 5***a - EUR 121,00 placed on 12-Feb-09?
How a***i - EUR 60,00 placed on 10-Feb-09 10:11:48 CET can be higher than s***a EUR 50,00 placed on 10-Feb-09 15:29:42 CET?
2. Why 5***a appears placing a bunch of consecutive bid in a very short time (on 12-Feb-09 16:21:04, 16:21:21, 16:21:33, 16:21:42, 16:21:53, 16:22:00), while nobody (apparently) biding against him?
3. Any trick for this bid (except the usual ones I read over the forum)?

I apologise in advance for my probably dumb questions (and for my poor english as well): as I told before, I'm definitely a newbie.
Thx a lot

That's how ebay's proxy bidding system works.

Called a "nibbler". He can't decide how much he's willing to bid, so he keeps bidding more in hopes that he'll be top bidder. If it's a reserve auction, then he might be bidding against the reserve.

No tricks. Bid the most, get the goodies. Some recommend bidding odd amounts. I guess that's good advice.
WOW, what a speed!

I guessed I understood that system... or not? :-)

I supposed so, thanks to make me sure.

Don't worry, you didn't fail: I didn't get it because of my poor english... Frown
