I want to search for items in any country except the U.S. How can that be done - I don't want to do a separate search for every country on earth except the U.S. I just want to exclude the U.S. from a global search.

This might work. On eBay’s advance search page, under “Location”, select “Worldwide”. Then under “Currency” select the 7 Non-US currencies (one per search). Grant it, it would take 7 searches (one for each currency), but it beats doing it by country.
Hopefully someone else will have a better way. Hopefully that above idea even works.
P.S. I played around with “Items near me” on ebay's search, but 2000 miles is the longest distance.
