When Auction sniper places a bid how much does it place? 1 dollar? If the Max Bid is set to 50$ does that mean AS won't place a bid on the item if someone places a bid and brings it to over 50$?

AS places the entire amount you set it up to bid, no more and no less. If someone has already bid that amount or more, AS will still try to bid for you. (AS will put a yellow streamer underneath the item you have set up on your snipe board telling you that your bid is less than the current bid amount.) However, you won't win the item so you won't have to pay AS anything.
