This is probably a stupid question but I'm a newbie so please beware. Let's assume the item I'm bidding on through AS is less then my max bid at the closing of the bid...does AS use my max bid or the specified increment over the bid on ebay I'm bidding against?

No, it uses the next increment over the current max.

Over the current winning big that is as long as one increment over that bid is not over your max bid. Hope this isnt too confusing. I believe I am correct and I have only used it afew times it's pretty common sense.

Sorry wildman, you have it wrong. AS bids your max no matter what - eBay then sees it as if you had bid manually, dealing with it using its proxy bidding system (so it may appear that you only bid by up to one increment!).

Oh, you meant it that way.

I thought you were tying it together with the e-bay system and whether the auction would rise up to the max, but I suppose I didn't interpret the question as AS but as ebay.
