I love Snipe It Now! I just keep the SIN window open while I browse ebay. Makes sniping easy.

One way to make AS work better would be to put a comment field in the Snipe It Now window. That way, you could set up the snipe and quickly input comments, details, etc., without having to go back to My Snipes and add a comment.

Thanks! Wink

Sara,

I disagree with you about saying that adding the "comment" field is "cumbersome". I mean, at what point does "being simple" have to be done for the needs of the rest of us?

One of the factors in doing these snipes is that shipping costs has to be accounted for. I'm on a TIGHT budget, and shipping IS related to the cost of the item. I need a place that I can quickly at ONE TIME enter my amount and then insert the comment for how much the shipping is.

I'd ask that the staff please start working on adding a comment box right there on the "Snipe-it-now" page for us to have without having to do all the extra steps. It's time consuming...and I don't want to spend more time to add something that should be there at the start for adding a bid.

Bidding costs and Shipping costs are all that go into the bidding process. Please give us what we need so we can better place our bids based on our needs.

Thanks!
Sara;

I agree with you. Adding another field will add some complexity. We forget what it's like to be a new user. Additionally, each change or enhancement increases the possibility of making new bug(s). There are always trade-offs. Nothing is free. Enhancements can turn into nightmares. I'm all for keeping it simple. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I depend on AS too much to risk a crash.
Rick,

I am aware of what you are saying. However, instead of adding the "comment" section they could put it like this:

We all know about the "risks" of adding something new that it does or might increase complexity. How about the designers make a "beta" page for us to view and vote on. Something that we can test and see if we like.

You state that you use A/S alot. Wouldn't you think it easier if you had some place right there to quickly place the costs for shipping/insurance so you can quickly glance later when it's getting CLOSE so you can know how much it is truly going to cost you?

A/S might not be inclinded to do such as how many people would cancel their auction when they start to see, "Hey! This is going to get really expensive when I add the shipping/insurance!"

I do understand that A/S wants to keep it simple. But, it's a little past time for them to get started on working on making it a place to put that information quickly at first when doing it.

A/S IS simple. It will still be simple. This is still the ONLY place to kill people on ebay. I tell anyone I talk with about ebay if they're needing something really bad to get on A/S and take full advantage of a Snipe Attack.

We're all used to software boxes that have a maximise/minimise option - how about putting a couple of discrete downward pointing chevrons in the bottom corner of S.I.N (snipe it now, is it a sin? Smile ) which, when clicked on bring up a slightly bigger window with the extras in like comments/add to folder etc. Two upward pointing chevrons would allow a return to the original 'simple' window.

Thus, complex options are only one click away...

Just a thought.

No snipe like the present!
Here I am, they one who started all this (and the one who probably has Sara really ticked off at this point).

My philosophy is this: we can't always design, build, etc. for the lowest common denominator. In other words, just because some people won't get it or will be confused, that doesn't mean we shouldn't do it. That would be like saying, "Don't build 747 airplanes, stick with the Cessna, they're easier to fly."

I know there is a learning curve to AS. And I know the staff at AS don't want to make it any harder (though, as easy as it already is, I don't think that would make much of a difference...) than it absolutely has to be, in consideration of all the newbie snipers whom you would understandably like to keep as long-time customers. BUT...this product can be improved over time (we're not asking for this tomorrow...) to the benefit of the experienced sniping crowd.

We really do like AS, Sara, that is why we are interested in improving it. If we didn't like it, we wouldn't care one way or the other.

I probably wouldn't use it but go for it...I only found AS a few days ago and have found it very easy to understand, it has it's little foibles...such as having to refresh sometimes as the 'ready' snipe page seems to disappear of it's own volition, but these are easy to put right...so yeah go for it, if it's what people want then do it!!
