Proxy Outbid Status

Can anyone enlighten me about this? It is my understanding I should receive an email alert if my max high is not enough. I'd just like to know if a simple error occured that I wasn't notified, or, if there may be circumstances that would override an alert message.

Hi, Neva. Auction Sniper has no way of knowing how much another bidder's proxy bid is until your bid is submitted and compared to the proxy bid that's already been placed. If you really want to get some idea of whether there's been a proxy bid placed just put in a regular bid in the course of the auction that's one minimum increase over the top bid shown. That takes some of the element of surprise out of things if you're known as a sniper, though, and it also will attract people who follow your bids on eBay

Thank you for helping me get out of this "endless loop" of confusion. For some reason, once I posted the silly question, something about it just wouldn't resolve in my mind. sheesh

I sooooo wish I had the option of going back and deleting my own stupid posts, just a way of pretending they never existed. Hmmmmm. Do we have some kind of award for "bold-faced bravery in the throes of ignorance"?

This refers to the same issue I raised here in the first place, the difference being the final status call. The high bid on the item I referenced was clearly established 14 hours prior to end of item.

If an email alert from Auction Sniper "below minimum bid on item ...." is merely a courtesy gesture provided when time and resource allows, shouldn't it be presented as such? The question posed by miss...priss reminded me that my original post here was prompted by having received such email alerts previously.

I still find no reference anywhere on this site to help me understand this.
