proxy bidding question

I have been watching bidding activity for item 3802109522 and have a question about the bid amounts reported. The current bid is $1526, the previous high bid was $810. I have been carefully watching the bid history and know that only one bid is
responsible for this change. How can this happen?
Shouldn't proxy bidding report a current bid just
enough higher than the $810 to satisfy the minimum difference at that bidding level?

But you could not see what the proxy bid was for the 810. person, only the bid shown, so when the next person bid his proxy, it was placed an increment higher than the 810. person's hidden proxy at 1526.

The only time it would show it increment by increment would be if the bidders were nibling rather than using proxy bids.

In other words, the previous high bid of $810 REALLY bid just over $1500, since the very next bid reached just above that level. You only saw $810 listed, because that was the amount needed at that time to keep that bid above the next highest bidder. There is no way to tell what a high bidder's true max is; the current high bid of $1500 may actually be for $2000. Who knows?

OK, that's clear to me now.
The $1526 reveals that the $810 bidder's max
was around $1500.
