Hi,

I just manually posted a bid for an item on ebay. It said I was the current high bidder however for the last 10 minutes, the previous high bidders name and bid amount has continued to remain. Also, in my "My ebay" listings I have a red x next to this item saying that I am not winning the auction nor have I received my bid confirmation notice in my inbox yet. I know its probably just going to take some time for the update to take place. My concern is however, for an auction coming up that I'm sniping on with a lead time of 5 secs. If the page is not updated before the auction ends...does that mean I am not the winner (provided of course that I am the real high bidder)???? Does this all need to be processed before the auction ends for me to win?
Quick feeback would be appreciated as this upcoming auction takes place around 9pm EST today

Thanks,
mcGones

Every once in a while eBay gets backlogged, particularly on Sundays and holidays. The rule that "high bidder at the close wins" is still in force, however. They may not post your bid right away (too bad for the guy you just outbid!) but it's in their pipeline and so long as the bid is made within the time frame of the auction, it'll count.
Thanks for the info Steve. Its weird...I got impatient and went back to the auction item and bid the next increment up. It was 28.99 based on what the still listed highest bidders last bid was. My last bid was 29.00 so I thought my bid would be rejected because of the 29$ thing. But it took this second bid at 28.99 and listed me as the highest bidder at that amount. Seems that my previous bid went unnoticed and got lost in the system. I still haven't gotten any notice from Ebay for that other bid. Strange eh. I guess Sh*t happends when there are thousands of people bidding a day. I won't hold it against them but I would have been pretty ticked off if it was an item I really really wanted. I know what I wrote it really confusing..its hard to explain in a clear way.

Thanks again,
McGones
