I just read the new paypal buyer protection program starting next month. In my opinion, I think , as a seller, it will cause more trouble than it will ever solve. Think I will stick to good old mailing insurance!

ok.. the PayPal thingy... well, first off I won't qualify because I ship mostly media (books, movies, music) and use USPS Media Mail, which is the least expensive way to ship. I offer insurance, but it is optional. There is no way to track Media Mail (which is basically first class at a special "book rate"), so that disqualifies me from being part of the is new PayPal protection offering. I'm not about to add MORE $ to my shipping fees to pay for a trackable way of shipping what are mostly $1-$10 items.
If I were shipping far more expensive (and larger) items, I'd likely use UPS and they always have tracking numbers.
I see a LOT about buyer protection in this new offering or "policy" or whatever they are calling it. Which is nice for when I'm a buyer and dealing with a qualified seller, I guess. But I really don't see the "real" benefits for the seller - other than possibly the credibility angle.
So far (knock-on-wood) I've had no buyers report lost packages. I've had a few close calls (one was because the buyer gave me the wrong zip code) but all eventually arrived. And I think it will be very unlikely that anyone will challenge me about inaccurate product description, since I'm a real stickler about that, AND because I absolutely bend over backwards if I've made a mistake.
Sure would be nice if someone could figure out how to get money from non-payers tho, and get their keesters booted quicker.... AND deal with ALL the people selling books with fake signatures... etc etc etc! lol
Anyway, I read the whole thing last night and wasn't too impressed, and figured it didn't apply to me much anyway.
hmmmmmm wonder if eBay has gotten the Turbo Lister bug fixed yet... this will be day 3 without being able to use TL since they did a botched upgrade... better go see... bye......
