First I want to thank everyone who has responded to my inquiry. However,I guess I must not be making myself understandable in my question, so Ill try one more time. I'm going to try and break this down to be understood.
Say I bid on an item and I bid really high. However, since I really want this item I want to insure that I do win. So I go to AS and place a really high stupid bid on that item. Now, lets say I won the item with my very first bid and AS never did ANY bidding for me on the item. Since I won and AS in NO way effected the outcome of the auction--Do I have to pay AS just because I used AS as a backup. AS never bid and was not used except as a backup. I won without AS assistance. DO I still have to pay a USER FEE if they weren't used? I sure hope this makes my question more understandable. Thanks everyone-Really I'm not trying to confuse everybody, just trying to get this answered. Bill
Yes, I understood what you had asked. And yes, you would still pay AS, because they still sent the bid and did the work. You do not pay them when you bid and lose the auction, but you do pay them when you bid and win, even if a previous bid by you, placed manually, won the auction for you. Considering that you are not charged at all for a lost auction, I would say that the mere pocket change you would pay in the situation you described is well worth the advantage, wouldn't you? Wink

The point of AS is to NOT bid manually early on, but to bid solely at the lasst minute through AS. And NEVER bid an amount that you are not willing to pay! Cool
Wilbur,

I don’t think AS would be in business very long if they only billed based on being a successful “backup” service, especially with manual snipers.

So much for seconds. I guess that's an admission - of sorts.
