I used Auction Sniper to place a bid on item number 3393061946 for £15.00. This bid was placed 10 seconds before the close. The previous bid showing was for £12.53, placed 3.5 minutes before the close.

It appears that the winning bid of £15.01 was placed 2hrs 57mins before the close but did not show.

How can this happen???

A closer look at the above auction.

The following table has been reorganized and sorted into date order. First
bid placed is line #1. That should make it easier to follow the auction.
Two additional columns have been calculated and added. They are the current
bid and high bidder, as displayed on eBay after each bid is placed. v2.2.08
* = Winning bid.

Hey Puppy Raiser,

In this grid:

# BIDDER Bid Day & Time Bid & Bidder
(GBP)

7 andysw999 10.01 18-Mar 21:20:02 10.01 andysw999
8 andysw999 11.03 18-Mar 21:25:17 10.50 andysw999

I don't understand why the winning amount went from 10.01 to 10.50, when it was the same person doing the bidding. I didn't think you could outbid yourself on ebay. ??? -Janie

eBay will always try for a full bid increment above the next to highest bid. In line 6 the max bid was 10.00 The next bid increment above that is 10.50. (This is one of the few times the price will increase when you are already the high bidder)
