I've been thru the forums and have a much better grasp on stuff.
Question: Regardless of how close to the end of the auction I snipe, a proxy bid will always beat me.

OK that was a statement.

I just want to make sure I get it.

So I have a snipe set for 1 second that goes thru, but another bidder with proxy bidding had a bid amount higher than me. And since technically their bid was placed a long time before mine, it doesn't matter how close I was to the end, they are the higher bidder.

Is that it? (I hope Wink )

Ask me about the monkey.

Yup, you got it, Christy. And the proxy bid wouldn't even have to be one full bid increment higher to win...even a tie bid would win over yours. All because it was placed earlier than your snipe bid.

How'd that other snipe go, the one you were so relaxed about this afternoon?

I posted this in the other thread, is there a way to add a link to the thread other than cutting and pasting from the address window?

Steve - I learned about padding from you already by reading one of your other posts! I did some research on the current bidders and figured they'd be last minute. And the item wasn't crucial to me. So I was happily outbid. And someone here pointed out usually items will turn up again, so I am still relaxed!
