My first snipe was on Saturday morning and was successful. I left the lead time at the default of 7 seconds though I was aware that a shorter might be better for that time of day. Checking the bids on the item I noticed that another snipe came in at 5 seconds. Luckily my max was higher. My snipe actually went in at 8 seconds, so Auction Sniper was slightly off. As I was following the time remainings in both Auction Sniper and eBay, Sniper seemed to be ahead by 5 seconds or so. I'm not sure what to make of this, though I can see that these timings can be quite critical.

I'm pretty new on eBay and tried Sniper after being sniped out of something that was a perfect match for a need I had. I was quite pissed. But I must admit I also felt quite guilty when my snipe won. I had been following the bids and saw that two guys were bidding each other up by hand. I'm sure they were also quite pissed. When I checked the final bid list, however, and saw that I had beat another sniper I felt much better. It also occurs to me that if the two guys bidding by hand had used Sniper instead, then most likely whoever had the highest max would have won and the final price might well have been lower.
