I think when a post is left, it updates all the counts on that post. Sometimes I'll see old counts on old post, but that appears to be updated during some batch process.

Don't know if you know this, but if you click on the "Author" you'll see their current count, and if you click on "Posts" you'll see that person latest posts.

Also, the "View" number isn't limited to one-view per person. That also seems to get updated with new posts. Since when you leave a post, you review what you left, that tacks on another hit or two. But again, it remains "0" until someone posts.

You might want to check "My Pop". I'm not big on the "Subscriptions" (having email sent. The email is delayed from the actual post. I suspect it doesn't send email until after the 30 minute window allowed to change the post), and although it says you can get email when new topics are started, I've never found a way to do that.

"Private Topics" aren't bad, but my experience hasn't been all that good. Information that is left there is left to avoid public viewing.

"Contacts" I have no experience on. But, I think if you add the most frequent posters, you'll be able to get emails on new posts, since the frequent poster tend to respond faster then anyone else.

On "Preference" there is one thing that has been handy. "Posting Options" allow you to size your posting window. If you use the default, you have to scroll down to get to the icons, and the text looks like you're in an alley. I have mine set to 85 x 5.

And "Profile" is the profile.

The "Pop It" at the bottom of a topic allows you to have email sent if additional posts are made to that topic (Same thing as "Subscriptions" in "My Pop").

"Polls" usually only get a couple of votes, and half of the polls you see are from new users that get confused. The bummer is that they only let you vote once ("Vote early! Vote often!").
If you go straight into the topic from the Home Page, you can miss other new posts in that forum. I prefer to enter the forum, see all the topics with recent posts. If you click on the "Last Post" column within the forum, you will be taken to the end of that topic. Something that can be very handy, ESPECIALLY one that has 5 pages.
