Hi.

I had placed a snipe on an ebay item. My snipe was set at $120, witha 5 second lead.

Now, when I returned later, I saw that the auction had ended at $85, which I couldn't understand.

Then I checked my mailbox, and saw the explanation "not in time" ... now how do that happen... auctionsniper boasts with that it has several servers trying (on seperate connections) to place a bid at ebay. Also it is said that a snipe with a 5 sec lead, will be placed with more than 99.7% certainty.

I would like an explanation for this.

Thank you.

Did it ever occur to you that eBay might be at fault, and not AS? "Not in time" means that your bid was indeed submitted by AS. It also means that it didn't reach eBay's server (eBay has many servers but only one is involved with processing any given bid) in time to be accepted before the auction closed. Evidently there was a slowdown at eBay -- this occurs frequently, but usually for only a short time, a minute or two -- and five seconds wasn't enough time for eBay's server to catch up. Frown

By the way, the auction you were bidding in didn't happen to close on the even hour, half-hour, or quarter hour (XX:00:00, XX:30:00, XX:15:00, or XX:45:00), did it? If so, that was likely the cause of the slowdown. Click on the "search" icon at the top of this page and look for "auction closing time" to see why.
