newbie question: how ebay max bid & AS interact

A simple newbie question for one of you:

If the max I tell AS to snipe at is less than someone else's maximum bid entered into ebay, will they always win?

In other words, is AS's main advantage protecting me against others upping their maximums at the last minute?

Yep - it's not the last bid that wins, it's the highest bid that wins!
