Newbie - max bid?? | Auction Sniper

I am brand new to AS, it seems like a great bidding tool. I have a question
about max bids. If an item goes for $500.00 and my max bid is $800.00, would
I still lose the auction to someone who had a max bid of $900.00 even if I
sniped the auction with 5 seconds? If the bidding works in increments and the
bid is low (minutes from the close) the chances of hitting a high max bid seems pretty
low to me. My question is would it not be smart to set a very high max bid as the max bid always
wins regardless of sniping or not? I hope I was clear with the question, any
feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Plexed,

Max bid always wins. Regardless of time placed. The only caveat is the bid needs to be at least a full increment over the previous high bid for eBay to accept it.
