Ok guys be patient with me. I have just joined and have set up two items to snipe. At first i put the lead time at 1 minute! As i thought it could not be beaten but that (i now know) is not how it works and changed it to 8 seconds.
Is that OK?
Secondly the fees do they come automatically out of your bank account if there are no money in your paypal account?
Thirdly, i have manually bidded and won with 3 seconds left! So can i presume that a snipe would still out bid it if it is within my set highest bid?
The little writting at the top of the page says "win in the last second" or somethin like that, is that a standard sign for everyone or have i not set my lead of 1 second back to 8 even though it say 8 on the items iam bidding on.
And lastly this is one for Paypal users, but if i have no money in my paypal account does it automatically come out of my bank account? I ask this because i checked the other day and it said that i have only £30 left out of my £500 limit and yet i had £200 in credit in there? Are they saying that i can only use £500 a month whether i have money in there or not? So therefor if i buy a item for £150 by paypal they will refuse to pay it as i have only £30 left although i have £200 in there??? If it is it sounds stupid to me!
Lastly how do i know that the snipe has definately been placed, the trouble is the first item i really want and is quite expensive but cheap if you see what i mean, how can i be sure its been placed and then do i do anything elae. I have placed it in my toolbar but when pressed i just get the homepage- Any Advice?
Sorry so many questions but i am a newbie to E-Bay ,Paypal. and snipe and are just trying to get things straight in my head Confused

Thanks for your patience but i really dont want to screw up this first one (should have started on some socks or somethin LOL)

Yes, most of the time. I use 7 or 8 seconds most of the time. You UK'ers don't seem to have the same problem, but here in the US, Saturday and Sunday evenings I add 10 or so seconds to that. I also add a little more if auctions end on exact quarter hours, or for auctions that are especially important to me. AS also monitors web trafic and may adjust your time earlier if they feel it is needed, but I add extra time anyway, just to be sure.

Not automatic from either. After you use up your free snipes, you will have to either deposit a balance with AS or register a credit card. Remember AS is NOT a part of eBay. They don't have your bank or Paypal information.

The status on your 'My Snipes' page will change from 'Ready' to something else... like You Won, Bid to Low, etc... See the help page / status messages for most of the possibilities. Of course, you could also check eBay for your win or not.

it says the American time on here and yet i changed it to London GMT or doesn't it matter on here
The time displayed doesn't matter. Your snipes are entered as seconds before auction end, so the time zone is irrelevant.

Additional notes:
1.) You can not edit or cancel a snipe in the last 2-3 minutes of the auction, so enter your real true max bid. You won't be able to change it with only 2 minutes left.
2.) AS goes down for maintenance between about 1 and 3 AM Friday mornings (eBay.com time). Snipes that fall in this time frame will be place at 1 AM or just before the servers are taken down. This means your snipes may be placed as much as 2 hours early. I think that's Friday mid morning for you.

TOP MAN!

Thanks for that, its stupid isn't it but you feel a bit nervous on your first one.
So 8 seconds is about right then, but supposing a bid manually or otherwise comes in the last second? Will your snipe out snipe again if you have put a higher max?

Cheers (oh and nice picture of a wasp! It must be an American one as they are more brightly coloured over here! but then what do i know? Confused

AS will only place one snipe, and that’s for the full amount. Once that bid is placed, then ebay takes over and does it’s increment/proxy thing. Once AS has placed the snipe, the rest is up to the amount of your bid and ebay’s computers.
