Except for the timing, bidding with AS is just like bidding at eBay. AS will place your $1000 bid and eBay will do the comparison, and incremental bids with their proxy system process. If you are the winner, it should be for one bid increment above the next to highest bid.

Thanks! I did not realize that Ebay automatically bids up in increments and only as high as is necessary to become the high bidder. That is a good thing.

Yes, it IS a good thing, but because of that, remember the bid displayed on eBay is not necessarily their max amount. That $800 displayed as current price could still win over your $1000 bid. (their max could be even higher)

Bid YOUR real max, hope for the best and a bargain. If you win, great. If you win for less than your max, even better. If you still lose, you didn't spend more that the item is worth to you, and another will probably come along to bid on.
