New Spoof!

I haven't seen that particular type of scam e-mail yet, but I do get plenty of the 419 type of scam e-mails. I've been thinking that it might be fun to do something like this to them:

Oh good grief! Falcon, I've just spent HOURS of entertaining reading on that website you posted. Thanks for sharing! I don't think I fully understood the Nigerian scam until now. Now I'm hoping to be approached with one!

I have Nigerians approach me nearly very day - I reply using a 'crap' email address but they rarely foloow it up. I also have registered with www.spamcop.net and report them through that!

I got the $1124 "you have cash" message the other day and I sent it to spoof@paypal.com. Usually they send back an email that the email is not from them and I shouldn't respond to it. This time, however, their response implied it was legitimate. I am wondering if the scammers have hacked into Paypal's system.

Can somebody clue me in to how the $1124 "You got cash" thingy works? How do the bad guys hurt you if they place $1124 in your paypal account?

Jabber, they don't put anything into your account! The email says that and you are supposed to click on something..walla, they have the info they want!

I just heard about another phishing scam. With this one you get an e-mail that looks like it's from eBay telling you your bid's been canceled. It contains a link that's supposed to take you to the item. When you enter your information to see which item it is, the criminals get your information.

I haven't seen that one yet, but I am sure I will!
