I am a newbie here. Do I need to place an initial bid on an ebay auction or just use the sniper as my bid?

Hi, Lee.

Just set your snipe and sit back. There's no need to place any bid directly on eBay. In fact, most snipers believe it's best to never bid directly on eBay since that can 'tip off' your competition and let them know you're interested in an item.

The only time I ever place a bid on eBay is when I want to remove a "Buy it now" option.
