Hello,
This is my first try at sniping and I'm worried I didn't set it up correctly. I never saw anything to click to start the snipe process.
I do see the green "ready" so I'm hoping that means the 2 auctions I'm bidding on are set to go.
Is there something I missed, or does it sound like I'm okay?
Thanks,
Kathy

Thank you for the help and for tip sheet. I needn't have worried, the sniping worked! Yippee! What fun! Too bad I lost. I wish I had bid higher on one item, but I think the other item would have gone up to infinity. Is there some other kind of auction deal where they never lose?
I have a lot to learn, like how to get the Snipe it Now button to work, and where to find the Update Button. I didn't see that when I was setting up my auctions.
Thanks again to both of you!

Kathy,

The only one I’ve ever encountered is to bid more than anyone else thinks the item is worth (bid more than anyone is willing to pay). You won’t get very many deals, but you’ll make the sellers happy. Of course, it’s hard to lose an auction if you take advantage of a BIN.

A rule of thumb: if you are winning almost all of your auctions, you are probably paying too much, or more than you need to.

One thing to remember (this comes up a lot on this forum) is that patience pays off. If you lose an auction, the item is bound to turn up again, and after time, the deep-pocket bidders are eliminated from the bidding, unless they are looking for more than one of the item.

Also, a lot of people recommend odd bid amounts (you could spend a lifetime trying to come up with the oddest bid amount), and that seems to help.
Hi, welcome and best wishes.

As for wanting to win. As we say, unless it is a handmade, one of a kind; there will be more of the same gizmo up for auction.

Once you get caught up on your reading. Check into the BID GROUPS FOLDERS. That is how you get the best deals. You just keep throwing those identical gizmos into that folder (at your desired price of course). Sooner or later you will win one at your price.

Wink
Thanks again, everyone. Besides getting to do the sniping thing, I'm learning a lot more about auctions.
A dumb question, what is BIN?
The person I was talking about must be putting ridiculously high proxy bids on items so she can't lose, unless someone just as crazy as she is bids higher.
I got Snipe It installed in AOL but still have to try IE and Nestcape.
I really think I'm going to like this sniping!
I see a lot of complaints about bids not being made. Is this just because this forum is bound to receive a lot more complaints than compliments?

Thanks,
Kathy
Kathy,

BIN = Buy It Now.

Not just this forum, but seems like everything is like that. People are a lot quicker to complain than to compliment (bad news sells).

This service wouldn’t be in business unless it was very, very successful in placing snipes.
Hi all,
Just thought I'd come back and thank you for all your help. I'm no longer insecure, I'm sniping, and I'm loving it. It's great to not have be on the computer when an auction is ending in order to win the auction.
And thanks for mentioning that winning too many auctions means we're bidding too high. I have lost an auction only to win the same item at half the price I bid the first time.

Thanks again, Kathy
