Hi all,

Long time user, first time poster. I'm having some serious issues with AS/eBay. Over the last 24 hours I've missed several snipes due to "Invalid User/Pass" status. When I attempt to access eBay, I didn't have any issues. I signed off of eBay and signed back in. I was told my User/Pass was invalid and it presented the sign-in screen again but with a new feature of a number entry box and image. I put in the same user ID and password that initially failed, the 4 digit image in the confirmation box, and it signed in fine. Is eBay currently having login issues that anyone is aware of? I can't find anything on the eBay forums and their support, as usual, hasn't responded. I've missed several important snipes and will most likely miss several more until I figure this out. It looks to me to be an eBay issue but I've yet to find anything on it or a way around it.

Thanks in advance,

Sounds like someone was trying to hack your eBay account. After 'x' number of attempts to sign in with an invalid password, eBay adds the additional information request. This prevents an automated hack.

If that's what it is, you should now be able to sign off and back on with only your ID and password and all should work ok now. (till they come back and try again) AS has no way around this.
Unless the hack attempt is ongoing, it isn't going away. The number verification is popping up everytime I attempt to sign-in. I've cleared all my cookies and auto-logins, have logged of eBay on every system I use, and have signed in/off to attempt to clear it. Since I've only got a few hours before my next round of snipes kick off I've tried changing my eBay password and my AS profile to match, this hasn't helped either. Anyone have further details on this number verification thing? Like how long is it suppose to last after hack attempts, password changes, illegal login, etc.? I was under the impression that it only took a single successful login using the number verification process to clear the need for the double authentication.

Tanks,

Me too.

Please let us know what eBay has to say? Looks like you may have to revisit the 20th century, and manually snipe. As long as the extra 'fill in the number' question is there, AS will not work for you.

I did sign off at eBay and back on. Worked for me.

No that would be the obvious thing to do but eBay is brain dead.

Your password is probably wrong on our site. You wont be able to change it on our site however until you get the 4 digit security code thing to go away on eBay. It goes away after midnight. Then you can use the modify accout link on your my snipes tab to change your eBay password with us.

At that point your sniping will begin working again. Until then you should delete all your snipes with us and snipe manually. Otherwise each time we try to snipe for you we're sending eBay the wrong password again and probably just making the problem worse.

Does AS have an error message for this situation? I bet not. It would make sense to have one so people know what to do!!!
I suggest logging a help case via HELP tab and making the suggestion via the suggestion link that appears (occasionally) on MY SNIPES!

Thanks all for the assistance and support. As of now, the problem has gone away. I removed all my snipes, waited until after midnight, and then logged back into eBay. The number check box was no longer there and everything seemed to work fine from an eBay standpoint. I went ahead and verified my password on AS as being correct, which it was, and re-entered all of my snipes. Successfully functioning once again. Still have yet to hear anything from eBay regarding why it happened in the first place and have no way of checking to see if there was an attempted hack on my account. I, being fairly computer savvy and technical considering I'm a Unix System Admin, suspect that something went wrong with eBay that looped me and that every AS attempt to snipe was just making things worse. I must say though, for having used AS for nearly two years and only now having an issue, that's a pretty good track record.

Thanks again all for both the welcome and support,
