When I login and view the "My Snipes" page, why do I have to manually click "Update items info" to get the current status of an active bid.
I think that the page should refresh the data automatically upon its first loading.

It's a resource issue. If it refreshed every time; every time you brought it up; on all of everyone's snipes; AS's computer would have to do a lot of extra work. But as always, I'll leave this for "SSS" (Steve, SuperSniper) as the final word.
I try to stay away from technical issues because I'm not all that familiar with the way computers work. But I've seen Sara B.'s answer to this question, and it's essentially the same as yours, Rick: Too big a drain on finite computer resources, and too big a drain on the AS wallet to install more and/or bigger computers.
You know I would never disagree with you Steve, but there is one thing more to consider. If the auctions updated every time I brought up my snipes, it would probably take longer to bring them up. And, for me, most of the times I don't need to see the updated auction price.
