Imagine my dismay when the coveted collector leather I have been watching for 6 days went by and my snipe was never placed!!!!! What Happened????? Item #8377982197 ended 2/2 and I definitely would have been the winning bidder!!! Any info out there on what happened????!!!!

How can you know?

Because my max was $527 & change and it went for $382...right, the other one could have bid higher than my max but the odds were with me. I should have said "I was pretty certain I would have been the winning bidder.." or somesuch disclaimer. Heat of the moment and all that, sorry.
If it is that important, I usually use a manual snipe as well in the closing seconds.

I have only done this twice and last week was one. My Uncle won the Scneider Trophy Air Race for Great Britain in 1931 and an original catalogue of the event came up complete with annotations as to lap times. That made a rare item unique and I couldn't take the risk of AS making a mistake.

So I simply doubled my "max" with AS (another thing I would never advise in normal times!)
Luckily for me, nobody else went "Nuclear" and I got it!

Normally, there is always another one coming along in a month or two!

Great idea, Paul. Having had 64 successful snipes with AuctionSniper, I had no reason to be fearful...but now I will do exactly as you say and do a manual in the closing seconds. If I can!!!! C'est la vie, comme ci, comme ca. thanks for your response.

There's still a problem with AS using the wrong auction information. For example, I currently have an active snipe with 18 hours to go, when in reality, the auction ended 2 days ago. When AS =thinks= it's time to snipe, it will obviously be too late. Maybe this was your problem?

yes, I think that is what happened. The clocks were not synchronized. That has never happened to me before. Is anyone from AS checking these posts--all I got was a notice "not in time" which of course it wasn't--the snipe was placed hours after auction end!!! I'm very concerned about relying on AS in the future. There seems no explanation from Systems Control or whoever would at least explain to me what happened! Thanks for your post, it really helped me to know it wasn't me or anything I did or didn't do.

Have you clicked update price on your My Auction page?

I have never had to do that before. I was under the impression that it is an automated system that is synched with eBay--that's the whole beauty of it. I have never updated a price and never lost a snipe (for this reason)until now. I don't think it was anything I did or didn't do. But I haven't had any word from AS except for the standard "Not in time" comment.

The last post from AS’ support staff on this forum appears to be Sniper Sara B.’s on January 31:

Disregard the “Update Price” suggestion. It doesn’t apply to this situation.

Based on what you posted, I think that’s an accurate statement.
