I'm a newbie and don't know all of the tricks of the trade but can someone explained how this happened. I put in a snipe bid at 5 seconds for an oddball prime number cent amount, i.e. 33.17. Well someone else placed a snipe bid 2 seconds before my snipe bid at exactly one dollar greater than me. How does this happen? I am not unhappy because I lost, it just seem like someone knew what I was going to bid and ajusted there snipe accordingly.

It can be a little frustrating when you get sniped by another sniper. But remember, a snipe bid is still the same as placing a last second proxy bid manually on eBay. The person who sniped 2 seconds before you, may have had a maximum bid that actually several dollars higher than yours. There is really no way to know what that maximum was. But when your snipe bid arrived, eBay's system raised their bid (by proxy) to the next bid increment, which was apparently $1. Wink
gotchya,

thanks, I understand what your are saying. The winning bidder placed a snipe bid more than a dollar higher than mine but all he needed was just the dollar. Think I am just a little frustrated cause this is the fourth time I've been sniped. After being sniped three times I figured if you can't beat'em join but still the same result. But every dog has his day and there seems to be plenty of the item I want.
