Last night I had a bidgroup operating in respect of some digital cameras.

This morning when I got up, I hadn't won a single one, and I was really disappointed. It was quite clear that auctionsniper's mechanism for compensating for a busy time was not working properly. Having watched the first couple not get there in time, I extended the leads for the rest and went to bed.

I have been bidding on some auctions this morning (when the USA is not awake!) and have had successful results.

I suppose it is just a learning curve, but I am concerned that I could miss out on something I really want either by not getting the bid in on time, or by going for a longer lead time only to find another bid sneaks in.

I've experienced this same problem for the last week. I started with 5 seconds and now I'm up to 10 seconds and I'm still getting "Not In Time" messages/results.

I've never had to go any farther than 7 seconds during prime hours in the past and in most cases I was able to get by with 5 seconds.

I've also noted that there used to be a much smaller time difference between the AS servers count down and the times listed on the items page. It used to be 5 seconds difference, now it's like 35 seconds,....I'm thinking somebody at Ebay has figured out a way to trick the incoming snipes with a false time stamp so the only winning bids can come from proxy bids from Ebay.

I may be wrong. But so far I'm getting told by AS that their severs and Ebay's match up perfectly as far as time stamping which I wouldn't know how they'd be able to ascertain that. They can't seem to get a winning bid in ANY auction I've sniped in the last week. 100% "Not In Time" doesn't cut it.
Hi - I've had this problem too. I am soooooooooo disappointed this morning to have lost out on a pair of shoes. My snipe was over twice the value of the finishing auction price. This really is SO frustrating. We might as well sit up all night to make sure we get our bids in...................... the whole point of using Auctionsniper............!!!
AS have had a DNS Server problem - proven good in Austrlia 12 hours ago (cant be bothered working out time zones) read below

After 3 support cases with AS this past week finally got them to admit system problem - DNS server fault.

Been missing snipes with 15 sec leads. Got sick of getting replies from the book of standard responses - asked for supervisor - got them investigating - got a result.

For proof of problem I watched an item close on ebay as the counter for the item on AS showed 30 sec to go.
Passed that info on to support & things moved quickly from there Roll Eyes

Grumpy,

If you mean the clock on My Snipes, then that’s a known “issue”. While it’s not a bug, it is an irritation. The My Snipes clock isn’t synchronized with ebay, but, as I understand it, is controlled by your own computer’s clock. The sniping clocked (controls when the snipe is placed) *is* synchronized with ebay’s. Actually, I think ebay and AS are both synchronized with the atomic clock in Colorado.

Hello,

This ‘Not In Time‘issue was related to the failing of one of our DNS servers. This issue has been resolved so you should no longer experience these timing issue.

Please remember to redeem your loss for free snipes at http://www.auctionsniper.com/freesnipes.aspx

We apologize for the inconvenience.

Thank you,

That depends on whether you believe the following quote from the AS support person (Donovan) that appeared in the link I left:

So you don't think a DNS problem is a plausable reason for late bids???

I checked my 40 sec winning snipe that went off after "the problem" was fixed & it went in exactly 40 secs before auction end.

I have to believe - I'm in Australia & the non-bids have been occuring in the early hours of the morning (PDT) so should not have been peak time for ebay or AS........... I have checked a good proportion of my valid 7 sec snipes in the past & can't recall any that have not been on time. That is, up until 20 June when my problems started.

I only offered my experience because I couldn't find any mention of the DNS problem anywhere else on AS.

Hopefull one of the support guys might like to comment on the issue here where all can see???????

It’s a VERY plausible reason. But that’s not the issue I’m addressing, but the following statement, which I originally quoted:

. . . which region2 also commented on:

Again, the clock next to each snipe on the My Snipes page does not impact/control/determine when the snipes are actually placed.

Happy Sniping

Is it still in synch? I suppose another test would be to change your pc clock to some bazaar time and see what impact that has on My Snipes.

So has anybody else had sniping issues between 20 June & 23 June - "Bid too Late" Or "Not in Time"? Confused
This is the only thread I could find during that time period:

Prosperous sniping
