GoodWill, St. Vincent's, pawn shops, 'mom & pop' bike stores ... sometimes you can find excellent quality really cheap Make sure that you have any used bike looked at by a bike mechanic - you don't want your brake cables snapping when going down a steep slope!

There are a couple on E-Bay now.. Needs a couple tires but you will have it checked by a local bike shop anyway. A good way to ship an assembled bike or wheel chair is on Greyhound Package Express. Give them a call and see if they still take bikes without a passenger onboard and if they will take it assembled.

Enter search: Mountain Bikes - Detroit Michigan
A dozen Detroit Bike Shops with Mountain Bikes.
I would call the one with the listing next to the University of Michigan. Hope this helps ..... mory
