I just went to duck down to the shop to get some bread and there was a dirty big (well I say big now but he prolly wasnt that big) brown snake out the front - so I chop sueyed him Thats my first for the season

No - our house, right out the front. I dont go out of my way to kill them, but if they are near the animals or the house they are fair game

Oh, well black snakes here are protected cuz the eat rats, rattlers, etc. When I lived in Tennessee, all snakes are protected...and do they ever have them!!

Snakes are protected here too. I dont mind Red Bellied Black Snakes as they are immune to the other nasties and therefor eat them. RBB's are also quite timid and not attack the the Browns and Tiger Snakes.

My boys always had pet snakes and such. The youngest used to drag them around the yard with a string around their neck! LOL!
