Hi all, can anyone advise on a cost-effective way of receiving money from none uk buyers whodo not use paypal or buying from same.
We recently receved an international money order for $11 (£6) and the banks tried to charge us £5 to cash it! We asked about IBAN but they informed us that each transaction costs £25
We accept cash readilly but are at the mercy of continental postal services which seem to lose cash frequently!
Any suggestions? all help greatfully received.

When you say you received an IMO for $11, do you mean one in USA dollars, or in GBP?

Before PayPal, I would send an IMO, available from the US Postal Service. I would purchase a money order for $x (plus pay a fee of $y). The US Postal Service would convert dollars to pounds and mail an IMO to the seller. I always thought this meant the seller wouldn't have to pay a fee; at least no one ever complained, and I can remember making multiple purchases from at least one person.
I use and like 2CheckOut. Personally, I hate PayPal and would never consider doing business with them. I found 2CO when I was looking for an alternate processor that didnt want my first born.

They accept people worldwide, have a "request payment" feature for auctions, offer an ATM card for international clients so you can suck the money out of an ATM and they'll wire you or send you a check. They also support foreign currency for your customers, which may be of intrest to some of them.
