Minimum time to increase bid ?

Hi

Twice I have tried to increase a max bid in AS a minute or so before the auction ends, on both occasions the enter amount box was greyed out and I couldn't change the amount.
Is this right or what is the minimum time you can increase a bid before the auction ends ?
