Nice to see you back again DD Big Grin Glad you didnt get spooked off.

On the Contigency Bidding front......

I sent a suggestion to AS and got a prompt reply.

I mentioned the fact that Buying Manager had this coding and couldnt they just use that since it was already written (thanks Rick).

Here is an edited version of the reply...

BuyingManager had eBays blessing because it didnt snipe.
Small eBay changes break features. The more features we have the more things that can break.
And when things break people arent happy. Especially when they concern bidding.

To try and tweak things now to support
contingencies could cause instability in general sniping. It doesnt seem worth it for the risk vs reward.

We'll be adding some other features over the next 2 months but contingency bidding isnt on the list. Perhaps in a future upgrade.
It's a cool feature, but like bid groups very few people use it. The average customer
will be happier with the features we're adding, as will the more savy buyers
like yourself I think.

Hardly a tirade,
No, you're wrong. It WAS a tirade! It included additional snide comments & sarcastic insults that went beyond "just answering points and inaccuracies thrust on this forum". But then again, THAT may be a matter of opinion, too.

It seems to have an opinion other than the gun toting, flag waving, apple pie brand of patriotism is very much frowned upon.
It seems to have an opinion other than the disarming, surrendering, tea-drinking brand of patriotism is very much disdained by you! Now please don't tell me you are insulted by that statement, or I'll just have to conclude that you are nothing more than a "Redneck Ugly Brit Yahoo"!

I don't hate the USA at all,
Yes, "hate" is such a strong term that you may not care to admit even if it were true. Perhaps "disdain, low regard, disrespect" would be more accurate & appropriate descriptive terms of your sentiments toward the US. "Hate" is probably a term you'd rather keep in reserve to describe your regard of the American president.

By the way, a "lighthouse" is an illuminated maritime warning beacon.... It's exactly this kind of inaccurate lazy erroneous spelling that aberates meaning and destroys a language....
Hmm...A challenge of the veracity of the ship/lighthouse tale results in what could be characterized as a pedantic obsession over an "inaccurate lazy erroneous spelling". Wow! Just by the simple intended mispelling of the word, "lighthouse", I'm able to destroy a language?!?! Cool! I didn't realize I had been granted such AWESOME POWER!! I wonder how extensive my powers are?? Maybe to find out, I'll go pee on a Quran to see if I can singlehandedly destroy a religion!

...destroys a language, just the point I was attempting to make before the hecklers crept in.
...And what exactly did that point have to do with sniping? Oh yeah! That's what we're doing now! -- Albeit "non-auction" sniping.

With your intricate attention to language detail, this glaring ambiguity is curious! So which is it? Are you a "Dave" (male) or a "diva" (female)?

So, if I get this right - if you want AS’ new features, your savy, but something else if you want contingency bid groups? The rest of it sounds logical.

There have been a couple of times contingency bid groups would have come in handy. Every so often, someone would split a two volume set of books into two different auctions. Somewhat pointless to bid on the second if you don’t win the first. When this happened (grant it, it’s been some time since the last one), I would inflate both snipes. Fortunately, I never came across another bidder that did the same.
