Message from AS incorrect re no bid

I received this email message from AS:" Your snipe
COULD NOT BE PLACED because of the reason above--
Proxy Out bid" but in fact my bid does show up
on ebay and then the winner above me(who had made a higher bid earlier.) I don't mind losing the auction but my bid does show up--which shouldn't happen if AS's message was correct. I believe the AS messages should be what actually takes place--anyone agree?

Yes, this has always bothered me too. I've sent it to the programmers again to see about getting that text changed as it doesn't make us look good when we actually did the sniping.
