Ebay bid report seen here

1. I went teo the auctionsniper site 1 hour before teh aucion ended and
a. bid for $80
b. 5 Enhancements

Point:
1. How come one of my alleged 5 enhancement starting at 09:46:50 PDT [8 second lead] did not supercede the "US $55.53 Sep-02-11 09:45:41 PDT"

seen below

2. I thought at 09:46:50 PDT my $80 Max Bid should have given a slightly
Higher shot thus like $57 instead of the Max $80

3. As seen 5 seconds after my bid of max $80 arrives in the winnning
bid of 81

That is not the Point

Bid Enhancement is an optional tool that can help protect you from losing an auction by just a few dollars. To use Bid Enhancement, after you set your max bid, specify how many additional bid increments above your max bid you would like Auction Sniper to protect. In the event that you are outbid, we will bid again using your Max Bid + the amount you specified for Bid Enhancement (if that number is still competitive).

Bid enhancement = Max Bid + the amount you specified for Bid Enhancement. It wouldn't bid, in your case, 5 more times but only once.

If I understand this correctly now, this is true only if the bid prior to yours is over your bid (not including BE amount). If the bid prior to yours is less, AS only bids your bid amount WITHOUT bid enhancement. Bids placed AFTER your bid will not trigger additional bids on your behalf in any case.
Hello -

If you are the high bidder with just your Max Bid, then that is the bid that is placed. No other Bid Enhancement is necessary.

If your Max Bid is immediately outbid, then Bid Enhancement fires a second bid with your extra bid increments added to your Max Bid.

In both situations, no more is done to your bid. If you are outbid after that, we notify you and you can choose what to do if there is time.

The idea behind BE is to get you to the highest bidder spot. We don't offer "up-bidding" services at this time but it is something we are looking into. In that kind of situation there are many more considerations to be made to make it the right experience for the user.

We will also be making a text change to the help text for Bid Enhancement that should prevent future confusion. Sorry if our current help text seemed confusing.

Thanks!
Cara
