I'm very new to this site, so perhaps this question has already been answered. Many auction sites are using a feature, known by various names, that functions to defeat sniping. If there's activity (a new bid) during the last 5, 10, 15, or whatever number of minutes is specified by the site, the clock starts over for that same time period...5, 10, 15 minutes. I guess the ramifications for sites like this are self-explanatory.

Personally, I like the sniping feature, but it would appear that the "handwriting's on the wall."

As I said in response to a similar inquiry several days ago, the way to combat that is to drop a minimum, one-increment bid in every four minutes or so, and protract the auction until everyone wants to scream. (You do this with a low-priced item, of course. The lower the better.)

You can also just boycott the auction site. Do your shopping on eBay, which doesn't take anti-snipe measures, and forget about those pale imitations. If enough snipers do that, the sellers in the other auctions will see a distinct drop in their sales and sale prices. Hit 'em in the wallet.
