>> whats wrong with 2 seconds? or one? << - With a 5 second lead time, AS is 99.9% (1 out of a 1000) successful. The lower you make it, the hard it is for AS to place your snipe. ebay has "mood swings". Sometimes a 2 second snipe might take 10 seconds. AS does a great job adjusting to this, but there's too many variables to be perfect. 5 to 6 seconds, with the exception of prime times (for more info let me know), should be safe. It's very unlikely that someone can make a counter manual snipe in that amount of time. If you're sniped, it's probably due to someone using a sniping service.

>> Do I use two sniping sites and also a proxy bid? << - You can, but both sites will probably bill you, at least AS will. I think you're better off using 5 to 6 second lead time with AS, but that's a personal choice. If it's a one-in-a-life-time or if you're going to be really pissed if you're the .1%, then go with 2 services.

>> One wopping proxy? << - You can, but be prepared to pay more for the item, because nibblers will probably attack you, especially if it's a highly competitive area, and when dealing with collectables, some people can get very competitive, when otherwise they wouldn't

>> One or two sniping sites with big but REALISTIC bids?<< - AS will only let you place one snipe per auction.

>> Also i dont know if this is fair but is this the Best sniping site to join? << - Well, I'm bias. When I started with AS, after researching several sites, I felt this was the best one. I've heard several people say it is. I've been told this is the only services that has a forum. I've only had one snipe not go thru, but I was watching the auction, and ebay was in major meltdown mode. I couldn't place a manual snipe. The great thing was, during that same few minutes, AS was successful in placing another snipe. I have no idea how they did it, but since that experience, and all other experiences, I'm a BIG AS fan.

Did I HEEELLLLPPPPP? Wink

Any other questions?

If your auctions ends on the exact quarter hour read the following:

This was posted by Sniper Sara B. (AS support) on 4/23/03 at 10:25 AM:

The problem is eBays 10 cent feature for sellers listing items that lets the schedule their start time. It causes tens of thousands of listings to all end at exactly on the hour and half hour etc. eBay becomes clogged during those times. For all intents eBay is unavailable at those times. They are flooded by buyers resfreshing their screens to either snipe or see if they won, and by sellers to see how much their items sold for and so they can email the winners etc.

Additionally, this applies to auctions that end exactly on the quarter hour (hh:15:00 and hh:45:00).

For these types of auctions, AS recommends 20 to 25 seconds. I know that's scary, and since it's not during peak times, half that amount would probably be safe.
