The lower you make it, the hard it is for AS to place your snipe. ebay has "mood swings". Sometimes a 2 second snipe might take 10 seconds. AS does a great job adjusting to this, but there's too many variables to be perfect. 5 to 6 seconds, with the exception of prime times (for more info let me know), should be safe. It's very unlikely that someone can make a counter manual snipe in that amount of time. If you're sniped, it's probably due to someone using a sniping service.

I've heard several people say it is. I've been told this is the only services that has a forum. I've only had one snipe not go thru, but I was watching the auction, and ebay was in major meltdown mode. I couldn't place a manual snipe. The great thing was, during that same few minutes, AS was successful in placing another snipe. I have no idea how they did it, but since that experience, and all other experiences, I'm a BIG AS fan.

Thanks for taking all the time you did to answer my questions. Auction takes place at 2:30 pm and yes compition will be hard fought but I seem to always be bidding against the same three bidders. Thanks again markcolen@earthlink.net. I will take your advise and use both services.

It causes tens of thousands of listings to all end at exactly on the hour and half hour etc. eBay becomes clogged during those times. For all intents eBay is unavailable at those times.
