I have two auctions I've set up snipes for. They're the same seller and are ending at approx. 6:00 p.m. EST on New Year's Eve. I've set a 10 second lead time. Do you think that's sufficient? I don't know whether to assume ebay will not be busy because people will be out partying, or if it will be busy because lots of people stay home.

Since that auction is a one day auction, and since the item hasn't been up for auction since 12/20, it might not be due to overall buyers' demand, but more due to the lack of availability of the item in question.
Well, the two auctions I sniped had a lot of bids today. My bid was too low on one and I was outbid by proxy on the other. I just look at it as the winner paid too much for the item. Both auctions were for lots of five used rubber stamp ink pads. I set my bids at just over half of the price of brand new. The high bidder apparently thought they were worth more. Not me, cos I know there will be another auction down the road and I'll just keep on trying! Wink

Happy New Year's everybody!

I still don't think last night's auction is a reflection of overall buyers' demand. Last night's auction closed at $13.00, but 12/19's and 12/20's auction both went for $9.01 (the last 2 auctions before last night's). Looking at the last 30 days, there have been 19 successful auctions ranging in price from $7.49 to $11.49 with 12/03's going for $15.50 (next day they item sold for $9.50 Razz). 12/07's auction had no bidders with a starting price of $7.99. Last night's auction had 8 bids, but here's something interesting: the 8 bids were from 4 buyer's, and all of them have 0 feedback and the high bidder only joined ebay on 12/28. They most likely don't know they could bring up previous auctions and see they could get the item cheaper in a couple of days. I wouldn't be surprised to see one of the 3 lower bidders get the item cheaper in the next couple of days.

I still stand pat on my position that it is due to the lack of availability of the item in question. Wink

Well, maybe, but we were orginally talking of lack of bidders, not dollar amount of bids and it looked normal and still does to me. Many, many of my bidders are 0 feeds because of the item. I just don't see much difference, but perhaps it is strickly because of what I sell. I would be interested to here from other sellers. Rick, the lack of availability leaves me with a funny picture of people standing at the door and it is locked...OHHHHNOOOOOOOOO! LMAO!
AND, Rick, I don't need an archive on feedback. Eek

Looking at the last 30 days' auctions, and the buyers' feedback scores on feedbacks given and received for that item, I don't see that to be the case. Will be interesting to see what happens for the next 3 days.

Yes, the price is definitely going down on that item.
1/01's auction - $10.50.
1/02's auction - $10.00.
1/03's auction - $9.71.
1/04's auction - $8.49.
