Very new here, and I have a question. There is an auction that I very much want to win, ending tomorrow, which is Sunday. It ends at 19:00:33 PDT as stated on the auction.
So what is a good lead time for this? I have it set at 5, would this be too short a time. It's ending on the hour and Sunday.
Appreciate any input.

'Way too short, bbcrafter. Five seconds lead time practically guarantees that your bid won't be registered in time by eBay. For Sunday bids, particularly in the afternoon and evening, I allow at least 15 seconds. I've been known to "stick my toe in the water" by doing a search or some activity on eBay just as a rough gauge of how busy the circuits are out there, but as a rule of thumb, allow at least 15 seconds.

If you're apprehensive that other bidders might see your bid and react with a counterbid, don't fret...the same eBay delays in registering bids applies to them, too. I'd bet dollars to donuts that no proxy bidder could get a new bid registered by eBay in under 15 seconds on a Sunday afternoon or evening.

Good luck! Let us know how it went. Smile
I've changed my username but still same lady. Smile
I won the auction that I wanted. Thanks so much for the info you all shared, I'm sure that helped. I've adjusted my lead time for all of the snipes now. I actually won two auctions today, that I'm sure I wouldn't have won without AS.
We live in the country and are on a land line, sniping was just not working out here, the connection is just too slow. 28,800 at the most!
So, thanks again!
Terrific! Believe it or not, I'm on a dial-up myself, since I live on top of a mountain ridge and cable doesn't come up this way. 56K modems, even when they run at 50K like mine, just don't hack it for manual sniping, so AS has been a lifesaver for this ol' sniper.

Glad you got a couple of wins under your belt. It's easy when you know how, isn't it? Smile
